As Consul General of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in Los Angeles, California it is my pleasure to welcome you to this website.
I hope that the information and the links on this site will help you discover and understand the ancient and contemporary history of Ethiopia; the trade and investment opportunities; the distinct culture and traditions; its rare and endemic plants and animals, and the majestic scenery of the country from north to south and east to west.
According to the diplomatic guidlines and procedures we will work with you:
- To further the development of trade investment, tourism, cultural and educational relations, and to promote friendly relation between the two countries in the consular district.
- To protect the national interest of Ethiopia and its citizens in the areas under the consulate’s jurisdiction.
- To provide information on the policies and regulation of the Government of Ethiopia concerning the opportunities for doing business and investment in Ethiopia.
- To facilitate the Ethiopian Nationals residing in the consular district to live in harmony with the community and in conformity with the laws of the United States, to keep close contact with their homeland and make a contribution to national development.
- To assist Ethiopian nationals who are arrested or awaiting custody trials or are detained for any other reason
- To issue passport, visa and travel documents.
- To perform registration services including those for births and deaths, marriages, and estates of deceased nationals.
- To issue authentication, notaries, certification and identification or registration cards as might be needed.
- To perform and other functions entrusted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia which are not prohibited by the laws and regulation of the USA, or international laws and practices.
