Who qualifies for Duty Free Privileges?

Returnee: those who exited from Ethiopia legally and reside abroad with legal resident permit and returning home permanently. OR

Those who exited in different ways (legally or illegally) and received Ethiopian passport from Ethiopian Embassy and resident permit and returning home permanently.

Refugee: those who went abroad for different reasons and lived as refugee and returning home without passport and with personal will or agreement with the government. OR

Those who exited in different ways (legally or illegally) and didn't get asylum in the host country and hence returning home on obligation.

Steps one should follow to complete the application procedure for the Duty Free Previleges
Based on the evidence you submitted with your application select the group of category you belong to and select those items you would like to bring with you. Click here to open the form and read the group criteria.
Once you selected the Group that you belong to pick all the items you are allowed by law to bring with you. Click here to open the form to help you itemize the items. Print the form and start entering the items you selected into this form. This form will accompany the Duty Free Privileges form.
The form is in PDF and in Amharic you do not fill it online print it and fill it using a pen. Mail the complete documnet with all the requiered attachments to  the Ethiopian Consulate via certified mail.
